St.Basil was built to
celebrate the military conquests of the Russian tsar Ivan the IV. Most of the
Russians were proud of St.Basil because it showed that Russia was powerful and not
backwards like the other countries thought they were. Some people didn’t like
it because they had to build it with no pay. St.Basil was one of the only
churches left after the war because others were torn down.
