Prague

February 2004

the Old Town

Downtown Prague is filled with elegant buildings, winding streets, miles of cobblestones, and bustling trams

Viewed from the tower above the Charles Bridge, the rooftops and church spires take your breath away

Everyone you turn, ornate facades tower abover the streets

At the centerpiece of Staromestske nam - the Old Town Square - the 14th century Gothic spires of Tyn church dominate views during the day and at night. Rows of small stands selling tourist goods, artwork, and drinks keep the square hopping.

Wandering around, there are literally hundreds of statues to look at, and even more interesting friezes worked into the balconies and rooftops. Heading towards the river, you'll run into the Charles Bridge spanning the Vltava
