Serbia and Montenegro

St. Sava's Cathedral

November 2004

Much of the exterior work has been finished at this point - more than in 2003 - bells are hung, doors are on, tiles are laid...

but there is still plenty of ongoing work. This can give an idea of the size -  where else have you ever seen a church with a crane inside it (and look how small it appears)?

In the time that we have been in Belgrade, the grounds have been sodded and seeded, walking paths put down, and playgrounds set up. The whole area is quickly turning into a pleasant place for a late-afternoon walk. The little church next door, Patrijarhijski Dom, is where we walked in on a wedding one day - with the bride wearing thigh-high fur lined white boots. Yowza!
