Greece

Epidavros is near the Aegean on the eastern side of the Peloponnese.  It is the home of a beautifully preserved Greek ampitheater.  We, to our surprise, had a bus load of Serbian tourist pull in after we arrived.  Several of them went to the middle of the 'stage' (sand circle at the bottom of the theater) and sang some Serbian folk songs, so we got to experience first-hand just how wonderful the acoustics are in this theater. We all climbed to the very top of the theater.  Alea counted 117 steps, but Breck and mom lost count.

Mom and Dad pose for Breck, who then returns the favor and acts like a statue with Alea.

Dad does the discus.

The kids were real troopers while we explored the ancient site of Asclepius.  They thought all the fallen rocks were just that - fallen rocks - and after about 20 minutes of exploring settled in to play restaurant.  Here they serve Susan some delicious mud pizza and stick french fries.

The mosaic floor tiles amazed us.  We imagined all the people whose feet had walked over them on their way to the baths at Asclepius - truly a momnet of 'common denominator' with the human experience.
