the people

We saw many different people in Matheran doing their daily business. Many of them were involved in the "physically carrying goods and people up to the hill station" line of work.
Some used their heads for supplies, hay, baskets, and chickens

Some used muscle power to carry people
Some relied on horses to help them

and some just threw the load on their back

We saw kids everywhere walking to and from school

as well as kids bothering those going to school!

Some women worked, while some women waited and some women watched the babies

and the staff at our hotel was always ready to welcome us back from a day's hiking with lots of food

and a monkey-free environment (notice the guy in green's slingshot? That was to keep the monkeys away!)
